RAFW: L'Oreal Professionnel for Gail Sorronda
[Mon 10/05/2010 03:21:22]
L’Oréal Professionnel Hair Director Brad Ngata created the hair looks for Gail Sorronda’s Spring / Summer 2010/11 catwalk show.

The collection was all about simple silhouettes and classic black. To reflect this, Brad Ngata’s creative direction for hair was to distort the models’ silhouette, creating an elongated, structural style. Part of the brief required a style that would easily allow models to be adorned with Sorronda’s incredible headdresses, something Brad’s concept allowed beautifully.

“From the creative brief, we discussed a look that would contrast two moods of severe and soft. I wanted a new shape for this runway, one that incorporated these two moods like two stages in time,” said Brad.

“I combined a strict, firm braid through the centre with plenty of shine, then framed it with soft, crimped floss-like texture," said Brad. "The look is dramatic as if straight from a Parisian runway.”

Get the look:
1. Double mousse the hair using L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Volume Pli for texture, height and hold. Blow dry in.
2. Section the centre piece through the centre of the head, and apply L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Fix Max gel for a firm hold and high shine in the braid.
3. Commence one braid from the nape to the crown, then braid from the forehead to the crown. Pin both ends of the two braids into a bun.
4. Spray remaining sections with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art Air Fix which will leave a crisp crimp with maximum hold. Begin crimping, section by section, then allow to cool.
5. Gently brush out each crimped section and pull hair up and back to the top of the crown and secure into a bun, concealing the initial braided bun.
