pink me! launch
[Thu 17/06/2010 12:17:46]
The Sunday night launch of pink me! at Hair Expo Australia 2010 left guests feeling more committed and more excited than ever about participating in the pink me campaign which will see hundreds of hairdressers turn their salons pink by using limited edition pink Easydry eco-towels, in a bid to raise thousands of dollars for the McGrath Foundation in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Kylea Tink the Managing Director of the McGrath Foundation related a moving story at the launch of how a breast care nurse, Alice, was like an angel to the late Jane McGrath when she was battling the illness
“The simple pink towel is an easy but effective way to raise awareness.... we need to get the message out that if you grow them, you should know them,” said Kylie.
The pink me! campaign will see the release of a limited edition pink eco-towel for salons by Easydry, with $25 from every box sold donated to the McGrath Foundation.
The McGrath Foundation educates young women to be breast aware, and also funds McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia to support women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families.
The biggest collaboration between salons and manufacturers that hairdressing has ever seen, it is hoped that pink me! will become an annual event.
Companies participating include Easydry, L’Oréal Professionnel, Boutique Marketing, salon software specialist Shortcuts, INSTYLE magazine and www.styleicons.com.au while salons already on board for the campaign include the award winning Sublime, Suki, and Jools for Jim.
General Manager of Easydry, Gavin Hinton, and winner of Entrepreneur of the Year at the Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards 2010, hopes hairdressers across Australia will get behind the pink me! campaign, and help make a difference.
“Already after all Hair Expo sign ups we have over 80,000 salon clients who will be wearing a pink towel in the month of October. We still want as many salons as possible to get on board. Registrations close shortly, so hurry,” he said.
Other big names involved in the campaign include Easydry ambassador and two-time Australian Hairdresser of the year Caterina DiBiase, from Heading Out Hair & Beauty, who is passionate about the pink me! cause.
“I didn’t even need to think about it... I knew Heading Out had to be a part of ‘pink me,” said Caterina. "This is a great opportunity for Australian hairdressers to send a message to their team, clients and community. We really can make a difference by supporting the great work of the McGrath Foundation this October. Heading Out will be 100% behind pink me!, and I hope the rest of the industry will too.”
