L'Oreal Professionnel Colour Trophy winners announced

Hosted by Australian Comedian and TV presenter Wil Anderson, the much anticipated National Final of the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy took place on Sunday July 4, 2010, at The Melbourne Convention Centre, where three hair colourists and stylists were announced as the winners of the prestigious colour competition.

Frank Apostolopoulos and Mariam Enegd (BIBA, Fitzroy VIC) were announced as the national winners of the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy, and in an unprecedented industry achievement, Frank was also awarded the L'Oréal Professional Men's Colour Award.

The L'Oréal Professionnel Next Generation Award was won by Avril Stevens (Cataldo's Salon, Woden ACT).

The 2010 major winners were selected by a judging panel of industry icons, both from Australia and overseas including; the Director of L’Oréal International Professional Development, Michel Claire (France), Editor of Marie Claire Australia Jackie Frank, International Brand Ambassador, celebrity and designer runway stylist Laurent Decreton (France), L’Oréal Professionnel Ambassador and leading celebrity colourist Jo Hansford (UK), L’Oréal Paris Make Up Director Rae Morris, one of Sydney’s most highly accredited fashion and beauty photographers Jason Capobianco and fashion and beauty commentator Dhav Naidu.

Entries to the 2010 L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy were narrowed down to a selection of 25 finalists from around the country who exhibited their interpretation of a magazine cover look, over a two day live judging process on the weekend.
They were all flown to Melbourne to recreate their entry live to the panel of experts who then carefully scrutinized, interviewed and assessed participants and their work.

“Making our final decision was incredibly difficult," commented Jo Hanford. “The Australian talent was of an extremely high standard and we were all genuinely impressed with the passion, focus and confidence that each of them exhibited in such a high pressure situation."
The winners now share in over $250,000 of prizes, education and national endorsements including trips to London to attend an industry hair seminar.

The Potbelleez
Over 550 local and international beauty professionals and VIP guests were delighted in performances by The Potbelleez, neon dance performance group Vospertron, as well as the highlight International showcase by Parisian hairdressing personality Laurent Decreton.
Decreton has worked on the haute couture shows for Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent, Jean-Paul Gaultier and his show was a truly spectacular display of fashion and couture hair, a sneak preview into his spring / summer 2010 Travel Journal Collection.
