Kookai unveiled their upcoming Cruise Spring Summer 2016 collection in a format fitting to the collection, literally cruising around Sydney’s harbour aboard the Seadeack.
Two trendy ponytails were created by Peter Thomsen of Chelsea Hairdressing for L’Oréal Professionnel, complementing a collection of tailored playsuits and summery dresses. In keeping with the ‘cruise’ them, the hair had to both keep up with the elements and exude this sailing vibe.
“The hair has a beautiful nautical, relaxed and windswept feel to it. It’s quite windy on the boat tonight so we need a style that not only works with the clothes but also works with the elements. The pony tail is a really versatile and practical hair look for summer. It can be simple but also looks incredibly chic,” Peter shared backstage.
“We have two looks here tonight, both ponytails. One has a beautiful soft wave through the lengths while the other is straight and has a great dry natural texture to it. The key to both of these styles in is the preparation and positioning. It’s really important to build texture into the hair as you blow dry.”
For the textured ponytail, L’Oréal Professionnel’s Tecni.Art Volume Lift, Wild Stylers Next Day Hair and Beach Waves, as well as Infinium Hairspray were crucial in creating a strong, varied style that held in the weather. For the more natural ponytail, the brand’s Tecni.Art Pli, Next Day Hair and Infinium Hairspray were also used to prep, style and finish a wearable style, on sea or land.
