It’s official – 14 of Australia’s best hairdressing talents under the age of 35 have been named as 2018 FAME Team finalists. A final round and a nervous wait lie ahead, on the road to deciding the four members of the 2018 FAME Team, to be announced at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards.
The entrants were whittled down after a stringent judging process, with each submission read, analysed and given points from various judges. These top 14 had the highest combined scores, and will now take on the next level of live competition.
“This was my first year judging the FAME team and I was blown away by the thought and hard work that went into the entries,” said judge Kobi Bokshish of Intershape Hair Stylists. “There are some really impressive young hairdressers out there! To say I am looking forward to the next round of judging is a total understatement. I wish all the finalists the best of luck.”
“I always enjoy seeing that combination of new names and those guys who didn’t make it last year but are persevering,” continurd Alex Fuchs, Creative Director La Biosthetique ANZ. “The calibre of entrants is always super-high… it’s going to make for an exciting second round!”
The live model presentation will take place on February 12 at the La Biosthetique Academy in Sydney, with winners crowned on April 15.
“It’s always a pleasure to judge the Australian FAME team,” shared Sandy Chong, CEO of the Australian Hairdressing Council. “The bar has been set high and this year the entries demonstrated that they are definitely capable of reaching those heights. It was exciting to note how many women have made it through to the finals this year. I can’t wait to see what everyone brings to the table in February.”
It’s no doubt that these 14 hairdressers represent the future of our national industry, with the artistic eye and technical ability that allowed them to stand out in a very competitive field. Congratulations to all the finalists, listed below.
