Former New Zealand cricket Dion Nash was in Sydney to launch two new skincare products in his Triumph & Disaster range. The launch was held in the Showroom Suite at The Old Clare Hotel in Chippendale, a boutique hotel which stocks the Kiwi brand throughout its stylish walls in all of its bathrooms, writes Michelle Ruzzene.
When Dion founded the range 2011, it was strictly for men, but after continued success, he expanded into haircare in 2014 and made his products unisex when he realised their universal appeal.
The father-of-three said the haircare range still was predominant in Australia over skincare, with countless barbers lining up to stock his #shelfie-worthy, naturally derived products. The products are formulated using local Kiwi ingredients such as horopito oil and ponga fern extract blended with scientifically proven and natural ingredients from around the globe, such as clay from Australia, jojoba extract from Mexico and tamanu oil from Polynesia.
The newest products in the skincare range are Dichotomy, an eye serum, and Dark Moon, a hydrating night cream.
Over the brunch presentation, Dion talked to gathered media about all of the products in the range, and the company’s mission to ‘create moments of ritual’.
“Attitude defines us, rituals refine us,” he said of their philosophy. As a former pro cricketer, Dion said fitness was important to him, and all of his products were about making skin and hair ‘fit’.
“We believe in the saying you don’t have to be born beautiful to be wildly attractive,” he said. “We’re not about anti-ageing, which is based on anxiety and fear, we are about making natural, clean products based on green science that leave people’s skin and hair feeling their best.”
Available in the haircare range are a variety of pucks, hair tonic that is an all-natural sea spray, clay, shampoo and conditioner.
