The best in beauty were announced at the 2021 Australian Beauty Industry Awards 2022 (ABIAs) this week, as winners were named in front of 500 beauty specialists, business representatives and make-up artists who congregated for a live awards gala at The Star, Sydney.
The platforms defines the benchmark for this industry across both specialist and individual categories in beauty and make-up, totalling 32 categories. The evening was MCed by Will Fennel and headlined by a choreographed show titled A Sea Scape and choreographed by Adam Williams. The show featured an elaborate set and acrobatic performers including Cirque Du Soleil talent. Entertainment also included performances by DJ and singer Clara Fable.
“It felt incredibly fitting that on our 10th anniversary, that 2022 would be our biggest year yet as far as entries,” said Linda Woodhead of Mocha Group. “The sheer volume of high-quality submissions was testament to the strength of our industry, even in the face of the impact of COVID. It’s been such an honour to celebrate and honour the very best in our industry for so many years now and I’m excited to see what is to come.”
The judging panel consisted of 30 local and international make-up artists, stylists, business, media and industry expert judges including Rae Morris, Julie Piantadosi, Faye Murray, Cameron Jane Thomas and Narelle Lancaster. Hall of Fame winner Emma Hobson, Humanitarian of the Year Rebecca Miller and Special Recognition Julie Piantadosi were nominated by their peers for their impact in the industry.
