De Lorenzo has partnered with long-time De Lorenzo client and indigenous artist Jacinta-Rai Ridgeway-Maahs on the 2022 De Lorenzo Limited-Edition Christmas pack and Instant Restructurant prints. Through the packs, which showcase Jacinta-Rai’s mastery of acrylic paint, the brand will support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF).
The commissioned artworks will be featured across the 2022 Salon Christmas pack collections, which include Prescriptive Solutions, Instant Series, and Bond Defence, a Limited-Edition Tote bag, and a Limited-Edition Instant Restructurant, with $2 from every bottle sold, donated to the ILF.
“In collaboration with Jacinta-Rai we’ve learned that health and education are the two major areas of concerns for indigenous communities; we believe that the ILF has an impact on these rural communities, and most importantly all donations go back to these communities and aren’t absorbed by admin running costs,” said De Lorenzo Marketing Manager, Bridget Bajada.
Jacinta-Rai is a De Lorenzo client, hairdresser and salon owner of sixteen years, in addition to her work as an artist and art studio owner with a space in Hervey Bay. Jacinta lives and works on the Buchella Country close to Hervey Bay. Her salon, titled RnR, was established by her mother and was an original ASPYA salon that she now runs with her sisters.
Her artwork for the brand will evoke De Lorenzo’s dedication to the health of the planet, as an homage to nature and community, as titled Inspired by Nature. It is delivered in Jacinta-Rai’s trademark form of designs, symbols and colours to unify concepts of land, earth and sea.
The Christmas pack artwork is designed with a rainbow that embraces three circles, portraying an acknowledgement of country, our first nations people and the traditional owners of the land, to pay respect to elders past, present, and emerging. It’s also designed with greenery to reflect the brand’s commitment to sourcing and using sustainable, certified organic ingredients, while large circles surrounding the rainbow represent the knowledge and sharing of customs that Vincent and Anton de Lorenzo have passed onto their families within the brand. The De Lorenzo community is further represented in earthy rainbows surrounding the two large rainbows, which evoke a sense of community and honour the scientists, the production team, the technical advisers to the representatives, the hairdressers and the clients within this community.
The Instant Restructurant and Tote Bag Artwork is also designed with a large rainbow to evoke the community and the focus on planet and nature, while acknowledging our First Nations peoples. Smaller circles represent connection through brand and eco-conscious values. The large circle in the design, encompassed by strong healthy foliage, is another testament to nature, strength and growth.
These concepts are further elevated with the brand’s philanthropic efforts. The ILF has worked with over 400 remote communities and gifted 636,000 books since 2011. It has supplied 83 playgroups with early literacy Book Buzz resources and published 143 books reflecting 26 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.
“The ILF is a national charity working with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia. Community-led, they respond to requests from these communities for culturally relevant books, including early-learning board books, resources and programs to support the development of communities creating and publishing their stories in languages of their choice,” Bridget said.
The De Lorenzo Limited-Edition Christmas packs and Limited-Edition Instant Restructurant and Tote Bag are available as of October.
