On Sunday October 30 Royals Hair hosted their annual salon awards for 2022, honouring their talented hairdressers and growing team with a creative Halloween themed evening, writes Cameron Pine.
With a strong sense of salon community permeating every aspect of the Royals brand, their completely immersive education space was transformed into a Halloween playground – the perfect opportunity to learn and further cement camaraderie within the organisation.
The Royals salon business, with four Sydney locations to its name, is owned and operated by Mary and Adam Alamine, with some locations co-owned and co-operated by Travis Bandiera and Hamza Alamine, as well as a dedicated education facility and annual program, Royals has well and truly set the benchmark for multiple salon engagement.
“The idea behind the Awards night is to recognize our team’s incredibly individual talents and achievements as well as just simply showing them that we appreciate their contribution to the brand’s success,” said Royals Hair Owner and Director, Mary Alamine.
“This has always been a cornerstone of how we do things at Royals. Our team are at the heart of our business. Many of them have been with us from the very beginning (back in 2007/2008) and we love showing them how grateful we are,” she said.
Fittingly held the night before Halloween, the dynamic salon teams took the creative direction one step further with a Vampire themed awards night with beautifully presented catered food (as is always the case with the Royals Hair aesthetic), drinks and of course a DJ.
“The night was a lot of fun with each winner taking home incredible prizes thanks to O&M, ghd, Haircare Australia and Ozdare. It really added to the fun of the night it was a wild celebration for all,” Mary said.
As the night progressed, what started as a Halloween themed awards night quickly turned into an Arabian night that included a belly dancing competition with everyone shaking it onstage and partying late into the night.
Comprising of eight awards categories from newcomer to transformation, including a category for video content, Royals has continued to progress its platform to suit upcoming trends and the varying strengths of stylists.

Mary Alamine’s dedication to hairdressing is an enchanted mix of business acumen and authentic artisan abilities and with a commitment to the craft that spans more than 20 years, Mary has continued to garner an unfaltering commitment to education which is reflected throughout the entire salon network.
The very first salon was opened in Castle Towers in the heart of Northwest Sydney’s Castle Hill, with a distinctly Moroccan boutique feel and attitude, Royals has been able to thrive and grow thanks to an obsessive dedication to perfection and a consistent education platform for all of their stylists. Following the success of the Castle Hill salon, they opened a salon in Hornsby in 2011 followed by Cherrybrook and more recently a salon in Brookvale in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
“The Royals team live and breathe all facets of the hairdressing industry every day, from education to salon work – our academy has been set up to ensure every Royals staff member and the greater industry is taught by the best in the and remains the gold standard in hair,” Mary said.
Recognising the best in all aspects of staff culture and salon performance, Royals continues to lead with fun and frivolity.
