The “luxurious Italian summer holiday” you wish you were on was the hair brief for Blanca, as Redken and Richard Kavanagh styled the decadent European runway showcase at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week.
“We constructed individually crafted hair styles that looked effortlessly thrown up or were worn loose, as if the models were on summer vacation in the Italian countryside,” Richard said. “There’s this vacation feel and effortless easiness to the hair but it’s luxury as well. We’ve prepped the hair by blow drying with a round brush, it has that luxury sheen, which comes from the prep products, not the finishing products, so it’s really about the technical effort of team doing the work with the blow dries.”
The brand’s Brushable Hairspray, Quick Blow Out and One United All-In-One Multi-Benefit Treatment were hero products, creating this pivotal texture, which defined the show.
“The hair texture has a uniformity to it, and each shape is dressed according to the person and what they’re wearing,” Richard confirmed of the individual looks.
The Blanca fashion designs offered a warm-weather take anchored by top-tier tailoring and crafted in linen, lightweight wool blends and cotton as a transitional, seasonal escape. Suiting styles such as pleated wide-leg trousers, cropped contemporary button-up vests and oversized blazers were collection highlights.
