The Pantone Colour of the Year has been announced for 2024, named as Peach Fuzz for the year ahead, becoming a warm and creative tone for salons to embrace.
“Sitting neatly between orange and pink, Peach Fuzz is a beautiful gentle hue that we will see inspire the fashion, hair and beauty realms through many lenses,” explained Elly Paynter, Rogue Beauty Artist and Independent Salon Owner. “Particularly in hair, Peach Fuzz will nest perfectly within current colour blocking, pastel and nude colour trends while having an understated and wearable outcome. R+Color’s Half Truth Semi, in the shade Lover, is a perfect shade to reach for when creating Peach Fuzz inspired hair.”
According to Pantone, the hue evokes caring, sharing, community and collaboration, highlighting an overall theme of togetherness that will now trend globally.
“The new Pantone Colour of the Year, Peach Fuzz, is a playful, delicate tone that is so beautiful. I am obsessed with warmer tones, colours and palettes and Peach Fuzz encompasses everything I love about warmer tones,” said Marlon Hawkins, artistic director for Brooks & Brooks, London. “It’s soft, warm, pink, peach, violet, golden – bright yet saturated. I love it!”
“Peach Fuzz is it a great colour for colourists because warmer colours are always softer and forgiving when doing transformation or transitions. They hold a lot more shine and richness, giving the hair an expense sheen,” he added. “When using it on clients, I personally find warmer colours the bridge between commercial and creativity. Clients aren’t afraid of colour anymore and by asking the right questions in the right order you can bring out someone’s colour palette and range in the consultation. Peach Fuzz will naturally have a complementing palette that colourists around the world will now be exploring with products such as L’Oréal Professionnel DiaLight Boosters. Let’s get swatching and switch up our mixology!”
The colour is particularly ideal for our Australian seasons, as a bright summer style, which also suits the transformative power of the new year.
“Peach Fuzz provides the perfect refresh for many of us come 2024 as the natural rosy glow will flatter a variety of undertones,” shared Revlon Professional in their education around the trending hue. “Adding a reflective finish to the hair it creates a natural, rosy glow, complementing almost every hair type and skin tone. It’s fresh and warm, which provides the perfect colour for those with a cool, warm or neutral skin tone.”
The brand recommended layered, fluffy styles of beach curls and waves to suit this soft hue, and an important dose of gloss with its warmth as well.
