O&M styled ASIYAM on the final day of Australian Fashion Week, in a sleek, polished, highly stylised look by hair director Mary Alamine of Royals Hair Sydney.
“What I loved about working with Asiyam was that this was such a collaborative process, so much thought went into the detail of the hair, so what we decided on was very intentional,” Mary said backstage. “We’re doing something that’s quite high shine and polished. Some girls will have a middle part, some will have a side part, but it’s really sleek and tucked behind the ears with a glam wave. It’s a resort collection so we wanted to do something that had a little bit of glam but was still sophisticated and polished.”
“The collection is very elegant and modest, we wanted the hair to complement and enhance the garments, while making a statement on its own,” she continued, adding that the one hair look kept the aesthetic uniformed, streamlined and prioritised a focus on the garments.
O&M’s Atonic Spritz to prep the hair texture and Original Queenie for the polished finish were the hero tools.
The fashion collection was titled Butterfly Seasons, standing as the only modest fashion brand showing at Australian Fashion Week.
“It is all about growth, it’s about the baby steps you take, both in being a designer and as a person. It’s also about freedom,” shared designer Asia Hassan. “The garments are an evolution of my brand, there’s more patterns and florals, the fabrics are flowy and feature some embroidery and butterflies. I have incorporated more vibrant colours this year and continued working on pleats and silks which are my signature style. We also have one hijabi look on a hijabi model which is an important look for me.”
“The direction for the hair was to complement and lift the garments, it’s simple yet glam and so the hair doesn’t overpower or underdress the looks.”
