Inspiring with ethereal gold tones and goddess-like hair and styling, Muse by Richi Grisillo of Académie Salon impressed the Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFAs) judges, taking home the pinnacle 2024 Australian Hairdresser of the Year title.
With products thanks to Moroccanoil and Amazing Hair, the collection was brought to life by a creative team of photographer Andrew O’Toole, makeup by Mikele Simone, styling by Josie McManus, and post-production by Peter Orlik Studio, with the collection shot at Lunar Studios, Sydney.
The golden collection fused Avant Garde shapes, styles and bold beauty to modernise a classic aesthetic. A bearded style, floral evocation, where hair is used as the materials to create these flower-like details, and a vibrant, braided pink look stand out amongst the hero images.
Richi’s emotional speech spoke to his journey and commended the exceptional talent in the competitive awards category, which included such luminaries as Karen Bava of Parlour Hair, Pauline McCabe of Rock Paper Scissors Hair Studio, Dee Parker Attwood of Wieselmann Salon, Benjamin Martin of Salon XVI, Lyndal Salmon of BIBA Academy of Hairdressing, Malisa Masci of Masci Hair, Nathan Cherrington of Salon Zephyr, Stephanie Bellairs of Cabello by Stephanie Bellairs and Lauren McCowan.
“I never thought I’d be up on this stage starting my career,” Richi said. “I probably have 90 per cent of you in this room to thank for getting me up on this stage, and at home, thank you!”
Congratulations to Richi on this incredible achievement!
