View the 2024 AHFA Artistic Team of the Year Collection

Merging hair and fashion in the very spirit and name of the 2024 Australian Hair Fashion Awards, the Schwarzkopf Professional Creative Collective ANZ took home the award for Artistic Team of the Year, for a photographic collection shot in the backstage action on the ground of this year’s Australian Fashion Week.

Capturing the individual, bold, goth punk aesthetic of the fashion show, the team were led by creative directors and hair legends Dee Parker Attwood and Jason Fassbender, with the collection photographed by Stephen Tilley. Accepting the award as a group, Dee and Jason thanked the whole team, comprised of talents such as George Mattar, Rebecca Kelly, David Wieselmann, Jordan James, Monique from Mane Code salon, Romain Kawada Lambert and Danielle Blakeley, with Head of Education at Schwarzkopf Professional, Gina Thomas. They also explained their unique editorial process at Fashion Week.

Created for the intense 55555 show on the final day of Australian Fashion Week, the show merged multidisciplinary art forms across fashion, film, music, 3D art and hair looks, in 37 total fashion looks inspired by goth culture, biker aesthetics and sci-fi influences. 19 individual characters made up the hair looks that walked the runway.

The versatile hair looks backstage were curated for this collection, where gelled textures with wing-style shapes in bold hues, complex braids, and a pastel blonde buzz cut with a fluffy texture on top and soft pink undertones were among the feature looks. Saturated, wet aesthetics, triangle shapes off the head and a hero and memorable show look of blonde spikes comprised the collection. Wig work, backstage hair cuts and hair toppers were all invoked on the day.

This complemented dark, eclectic fashion pieces, plenty of piercings and beauty that elevated fashion-forward looks with an edge, comprising the 55555 aesthetic.

“This is my dream come true to have such freedom at Fashion Week, I think it’s unbelievable, it’s not just a fashion show and a music show, but also like a hair show,” Dee said backstage.
