The 2022 Met Gala has already come around, back in its May time slot after its September outing last year and themed In America: An Anthology of Fashion, which builds off last year’s historical theme to focus on The Gilded Age.
Stars arrived to the most Avant Garde red carpet in the world in the requisite headpieces and trending tiaras, and supported trends of piled up styles, long cascading looks with texture and, again, definitively, tiaras – where else can tiaras trend?
We’re rounding up some of our favourite hair looks right here.
Kim Kardashian
Kim’s platinum blonde transformations have broken the Internet before, and unveiling this blonde look on one of the world’s biggest red carpets as part of her Marilyn Monroe tribute (she’s literally wearing Marilyn’s iconic “Happy Birthday” dress from the 60s) should have the same effect.
Khloé Kardashian
Khloé loves to experiment with hair length and, while it may be wigs and extensions that allow her this transformative freedom, she may just singlehandedly bring back the lob (long bob) with this one look.
Sarah Jessica Parker
SJP gave us a closer look at her sculptural hair look with naturally overwhelming fascinator on Instagram and we love the sense of drama of it all.
Sophie Turner
Sophie Turner recently turned her new and familiarly characterised copper look, from her original iconic blonde, to this dark red, and led the charge on trending long hair with this show stopping hue and length.
Kaia Gerber
Kaia Gerber similarly advocated for soft texture and waist-length locks on the red carpet.
Venus Williams
Venus Williams also showed off pure length with braids that may have been the longest hair look of the evening.
Vanessa Hudgens
Both men and women were piling hair into elegant up styles on the red carpet – we loved Vanessa Hudgens’ adorned take on the trend.
Blake Lively
Blake Lively’s hero look (it changed into a different outfit in the middle of the red carpet!) has been described as a fairytale moment, with her covetable blonde hair detailed with a crown braid and requisite tiara, which made headlines in its pure romanticism.
Lizzo
Texture meets detail was the brief for Lizzo’s hair look, while her flute also made an appearance on the red carpet for an impromptu performance.
Gigi Hadid
Trading her usually softer styles for something more severe, Gigi wins this red carpet’s award for Potentially Most Dangerous Hair Look, taking the title from Doja Cat.
