The third annual Australian Hair Industry Awards are approaching, taking place over the June long weekend that also hosts Hair Festival. With entries officially closed, the finalists will be announced in a live broadcast on May 1, and now the event’s important sponsors have been announced as well.
The event will be sponsored by Revlon Professional, Amazing Hair, Parlux, Wahl Professional, O&M and Silver Bullet.
The 2023 AHIAs will take place at The Star Event Centre in Pyrmont, Sydney. It will be hosted by MC, Will Fennell, and produced by Creative Director Adam William, with creative showcases, and an unmissable after party sponsored by Rogue Beauty all in store.
“This really is a highlight of the hair calendar year and we can’t wait to see everyone again to honour and celebrate in style. The quality of entries this year has once again surpassed, and has delighted the judging panel with Australia still being seen as a true force to be reckoned with when it comes to talent and forecasting hair fashion,” shared Mocha’s Linda Woodhead.
This year, entrants will be assessed by an all-star local and international judging panel that includes Angelo Seminara, Errol Douglas, Sally Brooks, Sam McKnight, Charlotte Grant-West of HJI, Sergi Bancells of Esthetica, Cameron Pine of INSTYLE, Louise May of HAIR BIZ and Christina Butcher of Hair Romance. The awards will award the pioneers in hair, which last year included luminaries such as Dee Parker-Attwood, Danny Pato, Stevie Corthine and Errol Douglas, who won pinnacle titles such as Australian and New Zealand Hairdressers of the Year, as well as for colour and international titles, respectively.
Additionally the HOTSHOTS team of next generation talent will be chosen, as judged by Dee Parker-Attwood, Jayne Wild, Benni Tognini, Stevie English, Kobi Bokshish, Sharon Blain and Brad Ngata. Team members will win important mentorship opportunities and a mentored photoshoot, as well as a full styling, electrical and scissor kit, editorial extension kit, clipper set and extra special surprise gifts.
“The HOTSHOTS program is something we are incredibly proud of, and we have been able to watch year after year as the winners have grown through this money can’t buy experience, becoming some of our most exciting talent,” Linda said. “Initiatives like this, which actively foster the next generation, are crucial for our industry to thrive and I am so appreciative to these sponsors who recognise the overwhelming power of education and opportunity.”
We can’t wait to see who’s on the finalist list of this highlight event.
