Hollywood’s brightest stars took to the red carpet at the 2024 Academy Awards to dominate your clients’ feeds and set the trends. Three major trends reigned supreme, catching our eye amidst the Oppenheimer awards domination and Ryan Gosling’s rousing performance of I’m Just Ken. Bobs, side parts and ballerina buns undeniably made headlines and anchored the hair trends for the glamorous evening.
With your clients sure to follow these trends in cut and style, read on for more insight into these celebrity certified go-tos.
The Bob
The bob is officially back – that’s if it ever really left. Short hair and tousled bobs were so in that Sydney Sweeney reportedly went even shorter – and darker – for the Vanity Fair after party from her original red carpet look, as reported by Allure, adding to her ever-varying hair lengths at recent appearances.
On the bob list, A-listers such as Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Lizzo and many more cemented this as the bona fide cut of the moment. It adds to the recent hair news that saw super model Gigi Hadid opt for the chop and secure the bob cut as your service of the moment.
Side Parts
Don’t tell Gen Z but the celebs went old school at the Oscars, opting for this millennial craze, as often paired with the aforementioned bob. Take Barbie’s own America Ferrera, fittingly in pink, who showed off both, as did so many of the stars. Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst and Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph added to the craze.
Ballerina Buns
In the up style category, ‘ballerina buns’, which were largely styled as high buns, landed many on ‘best of’ hair and beauty lists. In various textures and at versatile heights, celebrities such as Emily Blunt, Gabrielle Union, and Hailee Steinfeld in a low bun iteration, were the picture of elegance with this look. We also loved this sky-high look from Issa Rae.
