The 2022 HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards announced their winners in London, celebrating the thriving British hair industry and those who continue to evolve it. Hosting the gala event on July 4 at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, the event recognised some of Britain’s best hairdressing talent in the business sphere, commending leading salons, excellent teamwork and pioneering innovation.

“The last few years have presented our industry – and the economy at large – with seemingly endless challenges,” said Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards. “Our winners have shown resilience, dedication and pure passion, and their love of hairdressing is evident in all they do. From a thorough understanding of the market to remarkable attention to detail and a genuine desire to offer an exceptional service to their clients, these salons, teams and individuals represent all that makes British hairdressing so very special. I’m delighted to see them recognised and acknowledged in this way.”
The evening was hosted by Anton du Beke and included a drinks reception and three-course dinner as 17 trophies and Hall of Fame honours were awarded.

The British hairdressing industry is a global benchmark. Based on figures from 2018, that year the hair and beauty industry generated over £8 billion in turnover for the UK economy. Stats indicate that currently over 288,000 people work in hairdressing, barbering and beauty, with 60 per cent being self-employed, while there are nearly 45,000 hair and beauty businesses listed in the UK, which is an increase of 1000 since last year. These awards recognise and salute that business prestige.

Congratulations to the winners!
