It’s been a big couple of weeks for London salon Brooks & Brooks. First, their own iconic Sally Brooks picked up the honour of British Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards for the second time. Also, they’re introducing the Mushroom Blonde hair colour trend to intrigue your salons.

“The trend is a dimensional blonde with more earthy hues coming through,” explained salon stylist Sam Ashcroft. “It’s low maintenance which makes it perfect for clients wanting to stretch out a little bit of extra time in between their colour appointments, whilst still making them look great on their Zoom meetings.”

This ideal 2020 trend was made to warm up London’s cold weather, but we can always use some new trends and warm hues in Australia too. The trend falls between dark brown and light blonde, working on the cooler side of the spectrum to suit most skin tones.

“It’s a great shade for people who are already blonde wanting to experiment with darker tones and people who are brunette wanting to add lightness,” Sam said. “I’m loving the new L’Oreal Professionnel Dialight shades to create this look 7.01, 8.21, 10.01 and 10.02. Using these shades to create Smoked Mushroom Blonde makes it feel different from the classic bronde, which is traditionally warmer and more golden. As we head into darker, duller days it’s the ideal shade to bring lightness and warmth to long hair.”

Even if you’re on the beach Down Under where days are getting longer and lighter, 2020 and beyond can always use more spark and new trends that speak to salon skill and professionalism. It’s a yes from us.
