If you didn’t see videos of Harry Styles and Shania Twain performing at Coachella 2022, you must not have been on social media for the past two weeks. That’s right, the ultimate music festival descended onto California for this year’s run, and we’re here to decipher the hair trends from performers, famous guests and all attendees alike.
Here were some of the top trends defining festival style right now.
Cotton Candy Hair
In colour, dual tone looks, pastel tone options and a particular preference for blues and turquoises were popular on a wealth of styles – from long wigs to pastel buzz cuts. Megan Thee Stallion somehow personified all of this with her unmissable blue and pink up style, while songstress Phoebe Bridgers performed with a split turquoise and lilac hair look as well.
Nostalgic Style
Bring back the 90s with all its plaits, butterfly clips and pigtails, according to the Coachella crowd. With colourful and old school clips front and centre, and cute braids paraded by stars such as Hailey Bieber, festival trends at the moment are all about yesteryear. Kendall Jenner’s pigtail plaits would make even Baby One More Time era Britney proud.
Playful Upstyles
The upstyles of Coachella continued the playful approach to the season, with some sculptural looks truly defying gravity, but mostly beloved space buns and sectioning used for hair height. Following on from her spiky Grammys look, Doja Cat’s hair continues to be a possible occupational hazard, but stylish.
If you or your clients couldn’t make it to Coachella, hopefully rocking a bright new hue or space buns while endlessly watching videos of Harry Styles will cover it.
