After announcing the Supersonic r™ Professional hair dryer earlier in the year, Dyson have officially launched the tool on August 14. The exclusively professional tool has been specifically developed for ergonomic use in a very unique, light ‘r’ shape, with faster drying and no heat damage as other drawcards.
The dryer weighs just 325 grams, which is less than the weight of a bottle of hairspray, while the groundbreaking ‘r’ curve allows professionals to effortlessly reach where it is normally hard to manoeuvre for control and comfort. This intelligent design combats strain related injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. The dryer is 30 per cent smaller and 20 per cent lighter than its traditional Supersonic counterpart, and promises smoother, frizz free and shiny results for all hair types.

Other key features include the streamlined flow heater for even heat, with proprietary new heater technology that is small, light and incredibly power dense, built for precision, efficiency and an even delivery for maintained hair health, as the brand’s first curved heater.
The tool also features optimised integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors in each attachment, which communicate with the dryer to intuitively adjust the motor and the heater to deliver optimal airflow and temperature, with customisable settings that the tool remembers from the previous use. A depth loaded filter is engineered to capture professional pollutants such as hair sprays, airborne styling products and other dust in a 3D mesh design that protects machine performance in order to double the time between cleans.
The Dyson Supersonic r™ Professional hair dryer offers three precise airflow settings and four heat modes, including a constant cold shot, with ergonomically placed controls within a thumb’s reach and LED indicators on the handle.
