Technology conglomerate Dyson have been pioneering in fashion too, styling a number of shows at New York Fashion Week for the AW 2022. Here we delve into the looks for Jon Reyman, Peter Do and Brandon Maxwell.
For Jon Reyman, hair director Christian Siriano took inspiration from the 80s and 90s and built strong silhouettes as titled a ‘Victorian Matrix’. Blending tech and femininity into a dreamlike aesthetic, the look was comprised of a glass finish, crimping and rhinestone elements to complement the experimental fashion collection, which was inspired by the uncertainty of the pandemic.

Utilising tools such as Dyson SupersonicTM hair dryer for prep, with the Smoothing Concentrator with Dyson Paddle brush or the Wide-tooth comb attachment to cater to different hair types, the hair look was ideally prepped.
Applying product to create a gummy texture, stylists then used the Dyson CorraleTM straightener for the glassy texture, finishing by tucking the hair behind the ears, gathering hair at the nape of the neck and setting with hairspray. Hair was then straightened at the crown to tame flyayways and crimped at the lengths, while rhinestones were added to complete the aesthetic.
For Peter Do, stylist Jawara created a look inspired by confidence and power, with a strong shape and a slip finish, as paired with the sharp tailoring of the collection.

“I really like the suit. I like that it takes time to make, that you don’t need to buy many, and that when you find a good one it becomes your safe space. I want to be that for women,” Jawara said.
Using tools such as the Dyson CorraleTM straightener to straighten and work the hair backwards away from the face, the hair was then sectioned with gel applied at the roots and hair combed backwards out of the face. The Dyson SupersonicTM hair dryer with the Diffuser attachment solidified the product and locked in the style, while stimulating natural drying for controlled definition and shape.
The look for Brandon Maxwell was sophisticated and chic, for a show dedicated to the designer’s grandmother who has Alzheimer’s. The fashion looks reflected and paid tribute to his grandmother in their glamour, honouring how she sparked his passion for design. The hair look blended this elegance in a bun shape and bow embellishments with modern braiding, as secured with Dyson technology.

The team used the Dyson SupersonicTM hair dryer, with individual attachments to suit each model’s hair type, while the Professional Styling Concentrator on the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer created sharp definition at the centre parting. The DysonTM Corrale straightener offered a sleek finish, while hair was braided at the centre, twisted into a bun and attached with bows.
