The mantra #TenTillNeverAgain is being campaigned from the rooftops by Australian foils brand Foil Me, which continues its inspiring support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). The brand is debuting their fourth consecutive Pink October campaign, raising awareness and driving funds for crucial breast cancer research. To date the brand has raised over $50,000 for the cause, fuelling the important mission of zero deaths from the disease by 2030.
The fundraiser will also seek to unite an industry still separated by restrictions and the difficulties of 2020, with a salon-based and digitally connected fundraising event that still focuses on the issue without having to actually congregate.
“Due to 2020’s unforeseen events we wanted to launch a campaign that could still unite us as an industry, fundraising together, either from home or from the salon. We’ve developed the hashtag #TenTillNeverAgain to mark the 10-year countdown from NBCF’s determined mission of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030, and we’re encouraging all involved to please use the hashtag to connect with our collaborative community and show your support, all whilst still being able to raise much needed awareness and funds for this important cause,” shared Foil Me co-owner and Creative Director, Emily Ciardiello.
In 2020, Foil Me’s fundraising efforts have been expanded, with extra products and collaborations. As they did last year, the brand will make a donation from each of their renowned PINK foils from The Knobel collection sold in October. Additionally, Foil Me offers their exclusive pink ribbon and bra foil in the BCR collection, with a design that starts conversations, raises awareness and donates $1 to the cause for every packet sold. The brand will also be donating 50c from the sale of each brush during the months of September and October.
“This year is extremely exciting; we have some amazing collaborators on board with the Pink October movement,” Emily said. “Also, as with previous years we’re once again calling on our salon clients and customers to dress in pink on Pink Day – Wednesday 21st October – and also ask that they truly get into the fundraising spirit and decorate their salon or office space in pink! You can also offer your clients services such as pink toners and/or pink highlights!”
Collaborators include Redken, Hair Co Hair & Beauty Supplies, Nourishing Body Co, BRACEGIRDLES, OGO and AWDS, all of which will provide some form of product, discount codes, treats and t-shirts for the impressive registration packs.
Salons who register should join the online community by tagging @foilmefoils and hashtagging #foilmefoils, as well as TenTillNeverAgain, when posting pink content. The brand will offer a Salon Spirit prize, with the top 20 spirited salons going into the draw to win the ultimate designer bundle of Foil Me must-have products, with four runner-up prizes also in contention. The brand will connect with salons via video on Pink Day to truly share the spirit.
“We started organising Pink October this year back in January as we wanted it to be bigger and more influential than previous years, and we knew how much work was needed to ensure success. I really have to thank my team and the staff at NBCF, who have all given so much of their time and heart into this campaign to ensure the impact will be triple it was last year,” Emily said. “Since mid-August, we have been encouraging the hairdressing community to join us in our #TenTilNeverAgain and Pink October campaign, raising awareness and funds for such a worthwhile cause; one that is close to our hearts and many of our clients/colleagues in the hairdressing industry.”
More than 145 high-profile salons and businesses are already on board with the initiative. The community will help the NBCF in its important cause of steadily improving medical results, facilitated through $181 million in donations to the foundation since its 1994 inception, which has been invested into 557 research projects in this time. Since 1994, the five-year survival rates for breast cancer have increased from 76 per cent to 91 per cent, and Foil Me will continue to add to these positive trajectories and significant endeavor.
“Every year we look to exceed the previous year’s salon participation numbers, and of course to exceed our goal of raising $35,000 throughout the month of October,” Emily said.
So donate, register, attend and go totally pink this October, for community spirit, industry solidarity, some great prizes and perks and, of course, a truly worthy cause.
