On your marks, get set, go, as Hair Expo’s 2019 awards are now open for entries. Poised as the pinnacle and finale of Hair Expo’s annual festival of hair, the awards offer both longevity and legacy with several decades of operation, but also innovation, with changes being made this year.
“The Hair Expo Awards continue to recognise those who push the boundaries in hairdressing and the remarkable talent that we have in Australia and New Zealand,” said Elli Julia, Hair Expo Awards manager. “The calibre of entries grows from strength to strength each year and the hairdressing world has its collective eyes on the incredible work that these awards foster.”
“The Hair Expo Awards will push you to the absolute best of your ability,” agreed current Australian Hairdresser of the Year Joey Scandizzo. “The awards reveal not only who you are as an artist or a businessperson; but how much of a positive impact your work can have on your team, your clients and your community. If you’re ready to take the next step in your career in 2019, entering the Hair Expo Awards is one of the ultimate challenges and one of the most rewarding ways to celebrate your achievements.”
In 2019, the competition will add the Master Cutter of the Year Award, which recognises the craft of cutting as judged upon a three-image editorial collection that prioritises cutting, for any willing entrants in Australia and New Zealand. An all-new Instagram competition is another change to the proceedings, where entrants are invited to hashtag #whatyoudomatters when uploading their client transformations to social media. Monthly finalists will be chosen and the overall winner will be awarded a prize from Hair Expo.
“Entering the Hair Expo Awards is something I highly recommend for every passionate hairdresser,” shared New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year Danny Pato. “The process pushes you to challenge yourself and grow, and becoming a finalist or winner opens up new creative opportunities and gives you a business boost. It’s a powerful platform.”
The competition continues to run under the helm od head judge and awards ambassador Julie Piantadosi, championing business acumen, editorial skill, salon inspiration, education excellence and more in the varied awards.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be once again involved with the Hair Expo Awards in 2019,” Julie enthused. “These awards push our industry to be the best it can be and the talent that was spotlighted in 2018 was incredible. I encourage all hairdressers to enter in 2019 and to push their career to the next level. I look forward to supporting entrants and judges every step of the way.”
