Melbourne based salon brand Harpo Hair is celebrating 10 years of operation. The Brighton based salon brand, which has two salon spaces, was founded in 2014 and is renowned for its blow dry services, also celebrating 35,000 blow dries in this time.
In 10 years the salon has proudly grown to 12 staff and partners with such high end brands as L’Oréal Professionnel, KEVIN.MURPHY, K18, ELEVEN Australia and Kérastase, as led by salon founder Posey Broomhall and long term employee and new partner Amanda Skews. Amanda joined the team in 2017 as a salon assistant and completed her apprenticeship, before working her way up to senior stylist and now cementing her status as salon partner.
“Amanda was a very special team member from the start,” said Posey. “I love us as a team together and Harpo is thriving under our joint leadership.”

Posey has over 20 years of hairdressing experience, and also leads in the industry as a Victorian ambassador for Kérastase. Posey also has her own brands of sleepwear and bathroom products titled Bompies, which includes a vintage-inspired shower cap to prolong the salon’s iconic blow dries. The salon found fame in 2014 by offering $25 blow dries, leading to the salon’s prolific growth. The second location was launched in 2017, around the corner from their flagship space.
Harpo Hair thrives with a welcoming, family-style environment anchored by calming, pretty interiors. Education is another core facet of the salon, with a training programme that offers one-to-one training with senior stylists, time with the head educator at L’Oréal and development coaching from Posey and Amanda to elevate the work of apprentice hairdressers and emerging stylists.
“I’m excited to see what the next ten years of Harpo will be,” Posey shared. “Definitely a renovation and potential third location, new products, more growth and additional team members and lots of learning. “
