The Australian Hair Industry Awards (Creative) 2021 Open Entries

The Queen’s Birthday Weekend, AKA the weekend of hairdressing, is quickly rushing toward us and, with that, both the Australian Hair Industry Awards (Creative) and Hair Festival are opening up for business. The AHIAs are available to enter with online photographic submissions from now, and Hair Festival ticket sales will be open from early February.

The deadline for the photographic submissions is March 22, from there finalists will be announced on April 19 and the second round of written submissions will be due by May 17. 100 judges, the biggest panel in Australian hair award history, will decide who advances. All finalist collections will be displayed in the awards gallery at Hair Festival over June 13 and 14 at Carriageworks, before the awards ceremony on the night of June 14.

The award categories cover pinnacle titles such as Australian, New Zealand and International Hairdresser of the Year, as well as state categories. They also include awards for emerging talents, men’s hair experts, colourists, cutting aficionados and Avant Garde style, as well as combined categories looking at teams and collaborations. Young stylists can also submit their entry to be on the Hot Shots Team.

Operated alongside Hair Festival, which will offer hairdressers the opportunity to shop, learn, compete and connect with a dedicated marketplace, education sessions, networking events and more, the June long weekend once again promises to belong to hairdressers.
