Surrounded by elegant castles, ancient architecture and vast plains, Davines gathered the best in hair education for an industry celebration in Parma, Italy over the weekend. The 2018 World Wide Hair Tour hosted some of the best names in haircare for intimate and well-crafted education sessions and cultural events. 3300 hairdressers spent the three-day event amongst iconic Italian luxury in the new Davines Headquarters and Home of Sustainable Beauty, Davines Village in Parma, writes McKenna Uhde.
Cultural trends and inspiration flowed at the event as ideas and projects were exchanged amongst international stylists from 80 countries. As Davines has been a supporter of the arts in Parma, the Hair Tour visitors were able to attend a renowned local art exhibition of 40 international artists during their time. Between the fabulous art halls, galas and dinners, education sessions taught and transmitted the most recent industry trends from around the globe.
International hairstylists of who defined the brand’s history from the very beginning were welcomed on stage. The celeb lineup included Tim Hartley, Candice Wyatt Minter, Anna Pacitto, Vincent Moutault, James Abu-Ulba, Jesus Oliver, Sal Misseri, Huub Eysink, Jani Beemster, the duo Brian Suhr & Kirsten Demant, the Allilon team and Angelo Seminara, Davines’ Artistic Director. They were then joined by winners of the World Style Contest who had the chance to compete against other artists all over the world for the chance to teach amongst the best at the Davines tour.
The tour hit Italy with a bang with an especially designed 77,000 square meter headquarters built just in time for the event. Garden-covered trellises offered an organic aesthetic that reflects the brand’s core values. Davines’ products, which have earned an Elle Green Award, are trailblazers in sustainable beauty globally. With their headquarters now in Parma, the location will allow for training, education and research and development laboratories to further the company’s planet-saving efforts.
The studio landscape was designed by Del Buono Gazerwitz which among the laboratory and production plant offers an overwhelming greenhouse – the inspiration of the brand and core of the entire complex. Architects Matteo Thun and Luca Colombo created the Village masterpiece as designer Monica Signani brought to life the space with her inspired interiors.
The space overall is inspiring, and the perfect loclae for education and motivations to form. With artistry, environmental consciousness and pure hair luxury at the forefront of the Davines World Wide Hair Tour, thousands of guests left ready to do better and be better, for their own careers, their industry and the planet.
