Trends continue to come into the salon via pop culture and celebrity style and the latest trending look is Bubble Braids. The trend has entered the public Zeitgeist due to hit high school show Euphoria, as worn by Cassie Howard, played by Sydney Sweeney, and it’s a favourite stylistic choice for other A-listers as well.

The 90s style look is popular as both bubble braids and as the Euphoria-set bubble braid pony, scratching the ever-present nostalgia itch as well. The style is simply achieved, with hair ties separating a section of hair or the whole head of hair, all a few centimetres apart, and pulled out when needed for extra volume (hence the ‘bubble’ of it all). It can be offered especially to younger clients as a trendy up style option or kept in mind when cutting and styling hair looks that ensure clients can create the style at home.

The look is officially trending, with big-name celebrities such as Gigi and Bella Hadid and Olivia Rodrigo rocking versions of the style. Doja Cat also wore Bubble Braids to perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards and Priyanka Chopra wore them on the BAFTAs red carpet. It’s been highlighted in Elle, Cosmopolitan, Glamour and more, with how-to’s that your clients will be flocking to.
Keep this trend in mind in salon as a savvy new take on the up style.
