A huge congratulations is in order for Australian hair maestro Wendy Gunn from Ink For Hair in Queensland, who has become the first Australian to take home the global title in the L’Oréal Professionnel Style & Colour Trophy. Held in Paris, the 2019 event honoured Wendy for her contoured pink look, inspired by the hues of the rising sun, as she defeated 32 talented international finalists for the coveted title.
The event was hosted on March 25 at Salle Pleyel in Paris with the theme of the evening paying homage to L’Oréal Professionnel’s quintessentially natural and chic French style, while also heralding innovation, as its 110th anniversary was celebrated. Wendy won the ability to represent Australia at our national Colour trophy in 2018. Now, as global winner, she has been awarded a VIP trip with the brand to grow her skills even further.
“I’m so proud to represent Australia as this is the first time an Australian has competed on the global stage. I am lucky enough to win the prestigious competition against 32 countries, it felt a bit like the hair industry’s version of Eurovision and proves you don’t need to be defined by your age,” Wendy shared. “Never stop learning. I’m always eager to explore the latest trend techniques. L’Oréal Professionnel has given me the opportunity of a lifetime and I’m so excited to further develop my skills to take back to the salon.”
“Exploring strategic hair colour placement is becoming the latest trend after the make-up phenomenon with contouring. To give your face some shape, you contour the hair using light and dark colours, such as the currently popular bronze tones,” Wendy continued about her look.
